Weekends are always exciting even when you live in a place like Santa Ana. A lot of people in the United States might label Santa Ana as being too classic or rather ‘old’, but it is actually a fabulous place to enjoy a relaxing weekend. For me, this weekend is all about visiting the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park.

The main attraction of Santa Ana Zoo is of course its collection of rare and exotic animals. You can find virtually any animal you can think of right here at the zoo. If you love photography like I do, exploring the Santa Ana Zoo means discovering tons of moments to capture.

The Santa Ana Zoo itself occupies over 20 acres of land, all designed to be very green. Sitting under a tree while enjoying lunch after a long week is certainly one of the best ways to spend a weekend, and you can do just that at this zoo.

Aside from the collection of exotic animals – with over 200 kinds of animal from all around the world being part of the collection – the Santa Ana Zoo also features a gorgeous botanical garden. Different sections of this botanical garden feature different themes and settings; the desert-themed area, for example, will bring you to the desert of South American region or Africa with its authentic ambience. You can also stop by the butterfly garden and of course the infamous Colors of the Amazon Aviary as well.

With the ticket costing only $10, visiting the Santa Ana Zoo is certainly a good way of getting away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles and Santa Ana city center. The next time you visit LA, make sure you spend at least a day to enjoy the attractions offered by the marvelous Santa Ana Zoo.
